5Rhythms®: Heartbeat, Joy and Generosity
“Love is not a mood, but a dynamic way of being.”
– Gabrielle Roth
Joy and generosity are profoundly linked. In order for an authentic joy to be experienced, one must look closely at the relationship to generosity or the lack of its presence. All you have to do is be willing to move. As you do so, it becomes possible to open the barriers, heal the past, and find joy in the present.
The Heartbeat map is a guide to how our emotional energy moves and morphs. This map teaches us how to navigate the emotional terrain of life without getting stuck, holding on, or pushing away. We will explore how the body has been shaped by emotions, learning how to express emotion in a healthy and creative way.
This workshop integrates the stillness of Buddhist mindfulness meditation with the moving meditations of the 5Rhythms®. The Buddha encouraged us to bring wise attention to every aspect of our lives. In sitting meditation, we have the opportunity to observe the mind and body at rest through silent introspection. In the practice of the 5Rhythms, we engage in mindfulness while in motion. The polarities of moving and sitting meditation mirror the dance of life and open the door to peace, well-being, and balance.
All workshop hours contribute to 5Rhythms® teacher training prerequisites.
There will be a celebratory Thanksgiving dinner in the Esalen Lodge.
